Call for Nominations: 2027 Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry Awards

Stuttgart, 1 August 2026 – The call for nominations for the 2027 Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry and Women in the Chemical Industry Awards to recognize the outstanding achievements of women in organic chemistry is open. Nomination deadline is 11 December, 2026.

Nominate Female Chemists for Their Outstanding Achievements

The Women in Chemistry Awards are awarded to female chemists to recognize their outstanding achievements in organic chemistry.

The call for nominations for the 2027 Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry and Women in the Chemical Industry Awards is now open. Nominations will be accepted through 11 December, 2026.

The prize ceremony will take place at the European Symposium on Organic Chemistry (ESOC) in Bologna (Italy) in 2027. Both awardees will be expected to give a lecture on their work following the prize ceremony.

The selection committee for the “Dr. Margaret Faul Women in Chemistry Awards” is chaired by two members of the SOS Editorial Board – both being outstanding scientists themselves: Dr. Margaret Faul (Amgen Inc. | California, USA) and Prof. Cristina Nevado (University of Zurich | Switzerland).

Who You Can Nominate for the Women in Chemistry Awards

You may nominate young female scientists of any nationality who are in the first 15 years of their independent career in chemical research in academia or industry. The awards recognize outstanding achievements in organic chemistry, including medicinal, biological, organometallic and materials chemistry, as well as related areas.

What You Need to Nominate Your Candidate

Submit your proposals accompanied by the following information by email to Dr. Marcus White, Scientific Editor of Science of Synthesis:

  • Resume of the nominee
  • List of most significant publications (up to 10)
  • Statement, describing her work an its importance (maximum of 3 pages)
  • Short citation, summarizing her achievements (1-2 sentences)
